Crave - April 2010
I was very happy to return
to Crave for another gig! It was a great night with
friends and fans, many of which were very happy to see
the return of gelato to Crave. Members of the audience
that evening heard my newest songs and, as always,
sounded great singing along to 'My Happy'. Thanks for a
fun evening everyone!

The
Rewards of Hospitality
You have
heard me talk about the 'Hospitality Box' at gigs, the
wooden box I set out on our step this summer for the
chipmunks and squirrels . . . . well here is a photo of
my gift of appreciation from the critters . . . a whole
beautiful bunch of sunflowers and corn grew next to the
step - right on time for a perfect Autumn display!
Thanks to those critters that like to eat some seeds and
bury some too, we had an explosions of blooms right
outside our door. See, it pays to take care of the
little critters. For more stories and photos, look for
me on Facebook. |

June 26th, 2009 at Crave
I love playing at Crave!!! I perform there every other
month or so and I don't always write about it for this
Noteworthy page but these photos are too cute! - I had
to share them with you! We ordered dinner before the gig
and, my oh my, have you seen the Crave menu lately?
Yummy! The 'Visionary Veggie' was wonderful. And I
wanted to tell you that again it poured torrentially
while I was singing. It was Lancaster Pride all over
again but with a lot less mud since we were inside! I
really had so much fun with all of you. Thanks for
listening, for requesting your favorite songs and for
singing along! I think everyone in the room sang along
to 'My Happy' and you all sounded wonderful! You are
gorgeous!

Lancaster Pride - June 20th, 2009
I loved being back at Pride!!!! What a day! It poured
torrentially during my entire set, but the audience was
terrific! I really felt like they appreciated my
efforts. Their applause was thunderous . . . . ok, maybe
it was actually just the thunder - but still, I had a
great time. I was singing 'Kiss the Sky' and I had to
laugh when I got to the line about 'I feel the sunshine
on my face' as the rain was coming down in buckets. My
feet got a mud treatment that day which would've cost a
small fortune had I gone to a spa for it! At the
beginning of my set I told everyone that despite the
total cloud coverage and rain that morning, I still
slathered myself in sunscreen and packed my sunglasses
as well. Maybe it seemed overly optimistic at the time
but by the end of the day the clouds rolled back and the
sun came out and I walked out of the park wearing my
sunglasses! Thank you to the entire organizing committee
for another job well done.

Congratulations ! !
To Jessie Christina who recently acquired her driver's
license and a sweet new ride known to all as Benita! We
had a blast going on a celebratory drive around town.
Thank you for sharing your special day with us. So if
you see these lovely ladies cruising around town in
Benita, be sure to smile, wave and spread the love!

Happy Summer Everyone!
If you have been to one of my gigs lately then you have
heard me mention the 'Hospitality Box'. I thought you
would like to see some photos of critters enjoying our
hospitality.

June 12th, 2009 at Ten Thousand Villages
It was
wonderful to be back at the Villages! I had so much fun
singing my songs for everyone. I could hear Ellen and
Amanda singing along - which was great when I drew a
blank on one or two words! The gentleman in the photo
was getting ready to celebrate 50 years of marriage to
his wife. Congratulations! (I took a photo of the couple
together but it came out too dark to see - only the
photo of just the husband came out light enough. So, you
can see at least one half of the lovely couple!) Please
join me in wishing them many more happy years together!
And we all got to wish Mabel a Happy Birthday by saying
to her, "You Are Gorgeous!" Thanks to everyone for
coming out to the Villages and celebrating your special
moments with me.

Meet Me in Provincetown
I just wanted to share with everyone this beautiful
drawing I received recently as a birthday gift from
Amanda. Notice the Provincetown monument in the
background and the words of the song along the horizon.
There are many other details in the beautiful picture
that make this gift so special to me. Thank you.

Chocolate Festival
We had a wonderful time at Trinity's Chocolate Festival.
First we heard some terrific music by 'Breath of Life' -
what a great way to kick off the event! After listening
to a few tunes, including 'Spirit in the sky' (which
rocked) we went downstairs with my nieces and nephews to
enjoy the children's activities. They had a great time
decorating cookies and playing games. After making our
way through the children's area, we came back upstairs
for my set. I played several of my songs and even got to
be the music for the cake walk! See the picture of Ana &
Alex having so much fun! After such a busy couple of
hours it was really wonderful to sit back and relax
while Amanda Lyn, accompanied by her sister Jessica,
sang beautiful songs with their usual grace and humor. I
loved the entourage of manatee dolls that were carefully
placed nearby - not to mention the Ron and Peter dolls!
We had a great time singing along to Amanda's songs. It
was a perfect end to a great day.

October & December 2008 at CRAVE
I love performing at Crave. It is
cozy and beautiful and the audience is always
appreciative. Here are some pictures of people enjoying
themselves at my last two Crave performances . And to my
audience at Crave I just want to say, "You're Gorgeous!"

July 25, 2008 - Ten Thousand Villages
What a wonderful place
to perform! I sang to a crowded cafe and loved every minute
of it! The cafe is beautiful with many delicious menu
options and the employees are so friendly. The store is
filled with beautiful fairly traded items such as jewelry,
clothing, soaps, incense, singing bowls and did I mention
the chocolate! If you haven't been to Ten Thousand Villages
for a while, it is time to plan a return trip. If you have
never been to Ten Thousand Villages . . . what are you
waiting for?
June 21, 2008 - Lancaster Pride
What a privilege to be
part of this historic event! It was a beautiful summer day
with plenty of sunshine and cool breezes. As we were coming
across the field to the park, passing the rainbow umbrellas
of the Silent Witness volunteers (www.silentwitnessPA.org)
and hearing the uplifting praise music of the Joyful Noise
choir , I felt an upwelling of emotion. When I thought of
the many people that worked very hard so that we all could
enjoy a fun and safe day, it brought tears to my eyes. The
entire feel of the event was welcoming, joyous, inclusive,
festive - it was AMAZING! Congratulations to Jim Ruth,
Anthony Lascoskie Jr., the entire organizing committee and
all of the volunteers for a job well done. Many grateful
thanks for inviting me to perform. It was a wonderful day!
May 30, 2008 - Return to Marie's Hardbean Cafe
I was so happy to make a return appearance to Marie's. It
was a great experience to be singing outdoors on the deck
while enjoying a beautiful evening in the glow of the
setting sun. I was filling in for a cancellation so I want
to say a special thank you to my friends that came out to
listen on such short notice and also a big thank you to
Marie for giving me the opportunity. Except for the poor
gnat that I inhaled halfway through the first set, it was a
perfect evening.

Amanda Lyn in Concert to benefit Gift of Life Donor Fund
In February of 2008, Amanda Lyn gave a concert in
honor of her good friend, Devyn Snyder to benefit the Gift of
Life Donor Fund. Devyn is an organ transplant recepient and
also a talented young singer herself. Other performers were
Jessica Hornberger, Jeremy Lupowitz, Devyn Snyder and myself.
It was a great concert. These young people are all amazing -
giving thier time and talent to benefit others. It was a
wonderful afternoon of music. I think it was also the first
time that Amanda had played her songs publically. Her voice is
so angelic and the depth of her lyrics may surprise you.
Forgive me a bit of bragging, but as Amanda and her sister
Jessica have been vocal students of mine for years, I can't
help but to be filled with joy that they are using their
talents to benefit others. Amanda is a 7th grader at Conrad
Weiser. She just released her first CD of original songs
entitled, 'What do you see'. Her song called, 'Make it Count'
is one of my favorites. It will make you wonder how someone so
young could have such a mature perspective. Then there is
another favorite of mine called, 'Manatees'. In this song her
youthful view is a delight as she sings her charming plea to
save the manatees. Her love for friends, animals and God is so
obvious in her songs. If you think you would like to buy a
copy of her CD, just email me using the 'Contact' button
above. I will tell you how to get Amanda's CD. It was an honor
to be included in this marvelous event.
February 8, 2008
Spent the day in the recording studio
working on my new CD, 'With a Little Stardust'. Special thanks
to recording engineer Bruce Siekmann of Amoeba Audio in
Fleetwood for another wonderful experience. (see the photo of
Bruce hard at work in the studio) We accomplished a lot and I
am very pleased with the result. The next day I sent the CD
off to Disc Makers for production. They designed a gorgeous
wallet for the CD. The artwork is just beautiful and so very
me. Disc Makers art team did an awesome job. Thanks to Jered
Gallagher my project manager and to my sister Ingrid, employee
of Disc Makers, who kept her eye on the different phases of
the project. I am very excited about the packaging which is
environmentally friendly, made of recycled cardboard. The CD
releases on March 16th and I will be kicking it off with a
concert at Trinity Lutheran Church in Robesonia. See the '
Upcoming Appearances '
page for more details. I am so pleased with this project and I
think you are really going to love it.
December 29, 2007 at Crave
Happy New Year!
On December 29th I performed at CRAVE in
Womelsdorf. It was a good time as always. Some of the usual
faces were absent that night – I suppose many people were
still in recovery mode from the Holidays. Of course the Trio
from Trinity was there, Karen, Gladys and Shirley. It is
always great to see everyone. Because of being a smaller
crowd, I actually got to talk with everybody, which was nice.
I met some great new people too! If you were there than you
heard the story of the screaming cat and what it means to love
the unlovable. I hope to return to CRAVE soon and share some
more music and stories with you.
And for those of you who have been wondering .
. . my new CD will be released sometime this year. Keep
checking back here for details!
On a sadder note, City Espresso has closed its
main location. Its smaller location on 5th & Penn is still
open but its size not suitable for hosting events. I really
enjoyed City Espresso for the great ambiance, art, and chai
and I loved playing there. So, please remember to support your
favorite coffee shops. Take time to enjoy music, art, coffee,
gelato and conversation regularly at your favorite coffee
shop.
And thank you to everyone who supported me
this past year. Thank you for coming out to the gigs and for
leaving your comments on my web page. Thank you for the magic
beans and stardust. I really do appreciate your love and
support. You make it all worthwhile. Best wishes for a
wonderful 2008!!
November 3rd, 2007 at City Espresso
I was happy to return to City Espresso for an afternoon
performance. Five minutes before the show my capo snapped in
two - right in my hand! Yikes! By some strange chance a kindly
gentleman saw me struggling with a handful of rubberbands, as
I was attempting to fashion a capo-like device unsuccessfully,
and offered me a capo that he happened to have in his car. You
might wonder, what sort of person carries a spare capo in
their car? I wondered the very same thing. . . . The answer is
none other than a fellow singer songwriter and that is how I
met Tom Goss, a musician from Washington DC who just happened
to be making a pit stop at City Espresso in my time of need.
(Thanks Tom– I am grateful for your kindness.) You can check
out this hero of the day at
www.tomgossmusic.com After the capo crisis was
managed, I began my first set with
‘I will hold you’ continued on from there
with some more new songs and some old favorites like, ‘
Where would I be then ’ (where the lovely
Hornberger sisters, Jessica and Amanda, joined me once again
with their gentle harmonies and soothing voices) and ‘ Dry
Bones ’.
Still in the Halloween spirit, I shared my own spooky
stories and enjoyed plenty of laughs and of course a delicious
chai latte too! It is always a fun time at City Espresso.
Thank you to everyone for coming out and sharing a few hours
of your afternoon with me.

September 29th 2007 at
City
Espresso
I returned to City Espresso on a
beautiful sunny day for a very intimate performance. Thank
you to Dave, Dawn, Jessica, Amanda, Jeremy, Donna and Paul
for making me feel appreciated and for pretending not to
notice that I had a savage cold. Thanks to Heather of City
Espresso for her kindness and hospitality. Jessica and
Amanda sang beautiful harmony with me on two songs. I really
loved it and hope they can do a repeat performance sometime
soon. Thank you to everyone for a very enjoyable afternoon
of friendship, music and laughter. And I still say that a
chai tea latte is the best remedy for a cold .
September 7th 2007 at Crave
I had a wonderful time at Crave
again. I saw lots of familiar faces and met some new people
as well. Thank you to Jessie and Amanda for singing harmony
with me on 'Where would I be then'. That was a lot of fun.
And thank you to the entire Hornberger family for assisting
me with my equipment after the show - you are so terrific! I
also received a mysterious little sack filled with actual
magic beans and stardust.
Hmmmm . . . now who could that have been from? . . .
Thank you to everyone for coming out and listening. Your
support means so much to me.

August
24th 2007 at City
Espresso
My first time playing at City
Espresso was a wonderful experience. First of all, if you have
never been there, it is definitely
worth stopping by and checking it out. The tables are
scattered about the large room in no particular pattern with a
variety of mismatched chairs or loveseats surrounding them.
Like an eclectic antique store, there was a beautiful wooden
chest of drawers for sale in one corner and a hutch filled
with what looked like vintage figurines in another. Umbrellas
hung upside-down and open like paper lanterns along the
stairway climbing up the side of the spacious room and leading
apparently nowhere, or perhaps to a secret room for employees
only. But it is no secret that City Espresso serves up some
wonderful drinks too. I had the best chai tea latte I’ve ever
had. Having spent some time in India, I developed a taste for
the spiced tea common in the northern regions of India.
Although 'chai' is just the Hindi word for tea, we have come
to think of chai as this spiced tea – and those who know me,
know I love my Indian spices! Well done, City Espresso, for
serving up a hot and delicious spicy cup of chai!
I had a wonderful time playing my music to so many of my
friends. I also had the pleasure of meeting several new and
lovely people. Thank you to everyone for coming out to hear my
music. Thank you to all of the people that took a few moments
to talk with me afterwards and give me so much positive
feedback. You made my night! And thank you to the employees of
City Espresso for your kindness and for making me feel so
welcome and appreciated. I hope I will be playing at City
Espresso again sometime soon.

July 27th 2007 at
Crave
Friday, July 27th I
was back at Crave for another fun evening of music and
gelato!!! Thanks to everyone for braving the pre-show thunder
storm and coming out to support my musical endeavors. I must
also say thank you for the magic beans and stardust – your
generosity was overwhelming. It was a pleasure to see old
friends and some new faces too. Special thanks to the members
(and honorary members) of Kid’s Court. Your comments
really touched me. Thank you for taking the time to share your
thoughts and feelings with me after the show. And thanks for
helping to carry out the equipment at the end of the night.
But especially, thank you for all of the LAUGHS out in the
parking lot afterwards. You made my night!
Hope to see you all at City Espresso on
August 24th. Any requests for my set list?
Email me your suggestions.
